King leads Whistler skiers at K2 nationals

The President's Choice K2 Canadian Championships for skiers aged 13 to 14 got underway at Osler Bluff at Collingwood, Ontario this week. In the opening super G on March 22 the top Whistler skier was Blake Ramsden in 11 th place.

In the opening super G on March 22 the top Whistler skier was Blake Ramsden in 11 th place. Logan Pehota was 13 th and Charlie Renzoni 23 rd .

On the women's side, Whistler's Emma King placed second while teammate Charley Field was ninth.

"As a Whistler resident I had the chance to watch all but two of the entire alpine Olympic events," said King, who was inspired by what she saw. "Coming here I was really nervous. But I'm always nervous so that is my comfort zone I guess. Fortunately the snow was really good and I was able to put together a good run."

On Tuesday the athletes switched over to the super combined. Whistler's Blake Ramsden and Charlie Renzoni cracked the top 10, finishing seventh and 10 th respectively.

In the women's super combined Emma King placed sixth, Charley Field 12 th and Rae Swette 20 th .
