Loutitt fastest of all Fools

The annual April Fools Run Half Marathon drew hundreds of runners to the Sunshine Coast last weekend. The race was actually several events in one, with the B.C.

The annual April Fools Run Half Marathon drew hundreds of runners to the Sunshine Coast last weekend.

The race was actually several events in one, with the B.C. Athletics half marathon championship, an individual half marathon, relay categories, club categories and a separate category for runners from the Sunshine Coast.

Jason Loutitt of Squamish had the fastest run in the B.C. Championships, winning the 35-plus Master Men category and the race by completing the 21.1 km course in a time of one hour, 11 minutes and 21 seconds. He averaged almost 17.8 km/h or a kilometre every 3:32 for the entire race, which had hills, headwinds, long false flats and off-cambre road sections.

Over 400 runners also participated in the individual event, with Loutitt first.

Jonathan Van Drunen of Whistler was 59 th overall and 10 th in the men's 25 to 29 race in 1:36:03.

James Newby of Squamish was 11 th in men's 35 to 39 in 1:40:42.

Graeme Fitch of Whistler was seventh in men's 50 to 54 in 1:41:16.

Daylyn Miller of Garibaldi Highlands was fifth in women's 25 to 29 in 1:47:50.

Megan Wastle of Whistler was fourth in women's 35 to 39 in 1:49:13.

Len Clarkson of Squamish was 13 th in men's 50 to 54 in 1:49:42.

Christine Suter of Whistler was eighth in women's 40 to 44 in 1:50:34.

Rory Tucker of Squamish was 17 th in men's 35 to 39 in 1:50:46.

Patrick Franz of Squamish was 18 th in men's 35 to 39 in 1:57:03.

Elspeth Miller of Garibaldi Highlands was ninth in women's 45 to 49 in 1:58:32.

Charlene Ann Pawluk of Squamish was 16 th in women's 40 to 44 in 2:01:38.

Virginia Lindsay of Garibaldi Highlands was 15 th in women's 30 to 34 in 2:07:14.

Donna Jones of Garibaldi Highlands was 14 th in women's 35 to 39 in 2:08:50.

Gayle Lewis of Squamish was ninth in women's 55 to 59 in 2:15:51.

Rhonda Wilson of Squamish was 23 rd in women's 40 to 44 in 2:21:21.

Maridee Fitch of Whistler was 29 th in women's 45 to 49 in 2:24:35.

Marcie Coller of Squamish was 26 th in women's 40 to 44 in 2:27:41.
