For the fourth year the Whistler Rotary and Whistler Adaptive Sports Program joined forces to host a grass roots adaptive ski race, providing up and coming para-alpine skiers with a chance to sample a competition while skiing alongside members of the provincial team.

As well, the race is also open to skiers with cognitive disabilities and deaf skiers, who are not included in the Paralympics.

This year's event took place on April 17 under the Emerald Chair.

Alain Cordonier competed alone in the standing skiers category, finishing the course in 43.41 after his factor was applied.

Jamie Finely, a deaf skier, finished in 37.97.

In the cognitive/developmental disability female category the top three racers were Tamika Broere in 48.99, Christie Tilton in 52.90 and Victoria Tai in 1:12.46.

In the male category the winner was Mark Hopkins in 39.08, Cory Duhaime in 41.08 and David McInroy in 42.75.

Chelaine McInroy finished the female sitting category in 57.85.

There were four sitting men in the race. The top three athletes were Rob Gosse in 44, Caleb Brousseau and Jeff Thompson, all racing for the B.C. Para-Alpine Ski Team.
