On Wednesday, Sport B.C. recognized the contributions of six sport leaders in Whistler through the Community Sport Hero Awards programs.
Councillor and Acting Mayor Ralph Forsyth was on hand at the Spruce Grove Field House to present the awards, which are given to sport volunteers such as coaches and administrators for eight or more years of service to their sports.
The list of sports leaders includes soccer coaches Peter Shrimpton, David Robson and Bernard Messegeur, ski coach Dolores Los, gymnastics coach Karin Jarratt and Lisa Manzini of Action Schools! B.C.
Whistler was the sixth community visited by the program, which has yet to stop in Squamish or Pemberton.
