What: BIODIVERSITY FUN The AWARE Kids' Nature Club presents Biodiversity Fun, a chance for kids of all ages to participate in fun games and activities related to biodiversity. Learn about the diversity of the natural world and how everything is interconnected.

When: Saturday August 28, 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Where: Whistler Public Library

 

What: K9 WINE AND DINE FUNDRAISER WAG presents its main event of the year, a fundraiser for lost and abandoned animals. Owners share a fine dining experience with their dogs. They enjoy a gourmet three-course meal accompanied by vintage "Pinot Growlio," all courtesy of the Hilton's executive chef.

What: SQUAMISH PADDLING CLUB TOONIE RACE Paddle into the Squamish Estuary and then back out around Squamish Terminals, then around the southernmost navigational barrel and southeast to Darrell Bay and back. Fee is $2. Go to www.squamishpaddlingclub.com for more information.

What: LATERRA EXTERRA CANADIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS La Terra Ventures Inc. presents the Xterra Canadian National Championships in Whistler. Racers swim in Alta Lake, doing laps of 750 metres in length with a short beach run between each, then do a mountain bike race on single track and climbs. $15 fee for insurance.

What: A WORLD WITHOUT ISLAM Whistler Forum for Leadership and Dialogue presents Squamish author Graham Fuller, a former vice-chairman of the National Intelligence Council with the CIA, as he hosts a talk, discussion and book signing for his new book, The World Without Islam. $10 donation at the door.

When: Thursday September 9, 7:30 p.m.
