For the record: Best of Whistler

Pique issues mea culpa for Best of Whistler omissions

Last week's Best of Whistler was not our best work.

There were a number of issues with the story, including one category that was lost in the editing process.

The Best Spa award went to Scandinave Spa by a landslide this year, with twice as many votes as runner-up The Spa at Four Seasons. It was quite an accomplishment for Scandinave Spa, as The Spa at Four Seasons had won the award the previous five years.

Scandinave Spa, as many voters know, is located in the forest next to Lost Lake Park. You can cross country ski to Scandinave, or drive toward Riverside Campground, then cross Fitzsimmons Creek and follow the road to the spa.

Also getting a lot of votes were Solarice, Vida Wellness Spa at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Whistler Day Spa, Farfalla, Beauty of Whistler, Blue Highways, Avello and Artesia.

Our apologies for the gap, and congratulations to Scandinave.

The Best Physiotherapist category was won by Allison McLean (not MacLean) of Peak Performance Physical Therapy and Massage.

However, runner up Bianca Matheson now works at Back in Action Sports Physiotherapy, not Peak Performance as we reported. Also, while McLean has won the Best Physiotherapist title several times Matheson has won it at least four times in the past.

We also incorrectly stated that physiotherapist Vicki Powell still works for Peak Performance. In fact, she now works for Local Motion Therapy in Pemberton.

We regret the errors and will work harder next year to get everything right. Congratulations again to all the winners.

Pique also got a call asking why we didn't tell people where Best Esthetician winner Lindy Campbell-Scott worked, and the simple answer is that we didn't know and nobody included that information with their answer - something we promise to fix for next year's Best of Whistler voting. In the meantime the answer is Farfalla, and our apologies.
