The topic is breast health. The audience is women. The focus is self-education. Pemberton family practitioner Dr. Jennifer Boyd will on Thursday, March 18, present Breast Health Education for Healthy Living, the only family practice educational program of its type in Canada. The free seminar will give women the opportunity to learn more about their breasts — how they work, what is normal for them and how to conduct a breast self-examination. Boyd is just back from an intensive two-week training program in breast health and diagnosis. The program, which was designed by breast health experts at B.C.’s Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, included one week of special training at BCWH and one week at the B.C. Cancer Agency. Boyd’s presentation will include a lecture, audio visual presentation, take-away material and a question and answer period. The seminar, sponsored by Shoppers Drug Mart, is open to all women. By the end of 1999, 14 physicians from all around British Columbia will have participated in the program, helping fulfill BCWH’s commitment to all women of B.C. for good breast health.
