MORE DOGS THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT The response to last years BC TEL World Ski & Snowboard Festival Dog Day Parade was overwhelming, with more than 200 dogs, a pig, and a sheep all being led through the village by a ski magazine editor dressed as a giant cat. This year, animal lovers can expect more of the same. Along with demonstrations by avalanche rescue and RCMP dogs, some of the best looking canines in B.C. will be on parade in the resort. But don't expect a dog show atmosphere... this is a celebration of mankind's best friend. Admission to the parade will be by donation and all proceeds go to Whistler Animals Galore (WAG) and the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dogs Association (CARDA). All dogs must have their owners on a leash and must clean up after themselves. For their own protection, cats are asked to stay home. Prizes will be awarded for best-dressed dog, best dog trick, and owner/dog look-a-like. Presented by Puppy Zone, the Dog Day Parade is on Saturday, April 10. Parade participants will meet at Puppy Zone, located in the Holiday Inn Sunspree building behind Grassroots, at 3:30 p.m.
