Reunion 2000, Whistler’s official millennium event, has just gone live with its Web site and toll-free phone number. Whether in Australia, Ontario or Greater Vancouver, past resort staff can contact Reunion 2000, Get Back to Where You Once Belonged event organizers with current information on their whereabouts, register to attend and become eligible to receive special discounts. The Web site, hosted on Whistler-Blackcomb’s internet site, will feature event updates, reunion stories, retro-flavoured archival photos and fun facts about past and present resort staff. Mayor Hugh O’Reilly and council recently voted unanimously to declare Reunion 2000 Whistler’s official millennium event, celebrating the resort employees who have contributed to Whistler’s success as a world-class tourism destination and as a community. Scheduled for April 23-30, 2000, the reunion is a celebration for employees of all Whistler businesses, from the start of the Garibaldi Lift Company in 1966, through to present day. Organizers expect to host upwards of 5,000 event attendees during the week-long celebration. Events will include on-hill fun races, daily apres parties, nightly resort-wide entertainment, family programs and non-skier activities.
