Canada Day, July 1, 1999 marked day 62 and 3,784 kilometres of John Ryan’s 134-day, 8,688 kilometre Regeneration Tour. Ryan will celebrated Canada Day in North Bay, Ontario with Ontario Premier Mike Harris and other local dignitaries. The Regeneration Tour is an inspirational cross-Canada journey by Ryan, a paraplegic and Whistler Realtor, to raise awareness and funds for spinal cord regeneration research. In support of Ryan and his cause, Whistler/Blackcomb will donate three dollars from every lift ticket sold between July 1 and 4, to the tour. Whistler Mountain opened July 1 for sightseeing, hiking and mountain biking from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Access to Whistler Mountain is via the Village Gondola. Blackcomb Mountain is open for skiing and riding daily from noon to 3 p.m. with access via the Wizard Chair. Intrawest has provided extensive support to the John Ryan Regeneration Tour since its inception, from the production of the tour video and posters, to hosting a reception in Mont Tremblant, Quebec. www.regenerationtour.org
