Barrett Fisher, Whistler Resort Association vice president, marketing and sales, announced two new promotions and another appointment within the marketing division last week. Jill Greenwood has been promoted to the position of director of marketing. In her new position, Greenwood will now be overseeing the departments of advertising & promotion, festivals & events, and research. Greenwood has been with the WRA in the advertising and promotion department since May 1990 and has overseen that department as the manager for the past five years. She has been responsible for the advertising creative, media planning, collateral production, and consumer promotions. Greenwood has represented the WRA in national U.S. co-operative marketing programs with the Canadian Tourism Commission, Tourism British Columbia, Tourism Vancouver, and with in-resort partners. Other projects in which Greenwood has played an integral role include the launch of the WRA's internet site and Cornucopia. In addition to Greenwood’s promotion, Connie Rabold has been promoted to the position of director of communications. On top of her media relations duties, Rabold now oversees the member communications department, and is responsible for planning new member programs, and executing communications strategies with WRA audiences, including membership, industry, and local, regional and international media. Rabold has been with the WRA since August 1991 in the position of director of media relations, and has been responsible for elevating the profile of Whistler by garnering world-wide publicity in both print and electronic media. Rabold has worked closely with key industry partners in leading successful national and international media campaigns in the WRA's target markets. Specific accomplishments include bringing Regis & Kathie Lee to Whistler, and assisting with the Royal visit. Lynda Gilroy has been appointed to the position of director of sales. Gilroy will oversee the conference sales department, leading the Conference Center sales team as well as targeting specific new markets for meetings and incentive business. Gilroy comes to the WRA from Toronto, where she was the associate director of sales for the Crowne Plaza Toronto Center and previous to that, the director of sales for the Holiday Inn in Sarnia. Earlier last week Fiona MacGregor was announced as the WRA’s new manager of festivals and events. Interviews for a new research manager are still underway.
