RCR has Locke on Mont Ste. Anne Charlie Locke continues to expand his Resorts of the Canadian Rockies group, adding Quebec’s Mont Ste. Anne resort to the fold last month. The purchase of Mont Ste. Anne, 30 minutes outside of Quebec City, gives Locke’s company two resorts in the region. Last summer RCR purchased Stoneham Mountain Resort and this past spring announced a $200 million upgrade of Stoneham, including new lifts and a village at the base of the mountain. Combining Mont Ste. Anne and Stoneham will allow RCR to promote the Greater Quebec area as a ski destination. Mont Ste. Anne and Stoneham are second and third respectively in terms of skier visits among Quebec resorts, each doing more than 400,000 annually. Intrawest’s Tremblant is the largest Quebec resort with more than 650,000 skier visits this past winter. In addition to the two Quebec resorts, RCR owns the ski resorts at Lake Louise, Fortress and Wintergreen in Alberta as well as Fernie Alpine and Kimberley Ski Resort in B.C. The company also manages Nakiska in Alberta. RCR is building resort villages at both Fernie and Kimberley, in addition to the village at Stoneham.
