B.C. Rivers Day The Whistler Fisheries Stewardship Group, the Outdoor Adventure Centre at the Edgewater Lodge, and Whistler Sailing are celebrating B.C. Rivers Day Sunday, Sept. 26. Free canoes and kayaks will be available at Lakeside Park between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. so that people can paddle down the River of Golden Dreams, where the Whistler Fisheries Stewardship Group has done considerable work this summer. Interpretive trails and signs will lead people to much of the work. At the Edgewater Lodge, five minutes north of Whistler on Alpine Way near the high school, the WFSG will have demonstrations of fly fishing, informal workshops on fish habitat, face painting and a barbecue. Sunday’s at the Museum Beginning Sunday, Sept. 26, the Whistler Museum and Archives Society is offering a new program specially designed for children ages 4 years old and older. Sundays at the Museum will be presented one Sunday afternoon each month and will provide an opportunity for children to learn about Whistler and their heritage — and have fun. Each session will focus on a different topic and will feature guest speakers and artists in addition to hands on activities. All sessions begin at 2 p.m. and pre-registration is appreciated but not necessary. Sessions are free of charge for children. Call 932-2077 for more information. Allen will give a presentation on Black Bears and local artist Isobel MacLaurin will join him to show everyone how to draw a bear. o Oct. 24: Whistler Ghosts; Stories of the local ghostly legends. o Nov. 21: Native Animals. o Dec. 19: Ornamental Wreathes. It’s immunization time Coast Garibaldi Community health is reminding all parents of kindergarten students that it’s time for the 4 year olds’ and 6 year olds’ booster dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio.
