WHA conducting annual needs survey

Authority wants feedback from community

The Whistler Housing Authority is looking for feedback from the Whistler business community.

"We're conducting an online housing needs assessment that we do with Whistler's business community every year - this is the fourteenth year that we've done it and we've been able to amass quite a bit of baseline data over the years," said Marla Zucht, general housing manager for the WHA. "Essentially it assesses the employment characteristics and housing needs of Whistler's workforce."

Historically, participation in the survey has been high, with around 80 per cent of Whistler businesses taking the time to fill out the online survey.

In terms of trends revealed by the data, the survey has shown a drop in employee shortages in Whistler.

"Certainly the number of employees that have lived in Whistler has stayed remarkably consistent over the years, which is quite interesting," said Zucht. "What has dropped is the number of employee shortages."

The survey's target population is around 500 businesses.

"It is a really valuable tool for the community, nobody else is tracking the number of employees in Whistler...," said Zucht.
