Swing it - Whistler Swing Dance is a community swing dance for all levels, ages and musical tastes. Newcomers Lauri and Simon are bringing their five piece band The New Orleans Ale Stars up from Vancouver, along with professional swing dance instructors. Healing Wheels - This ride for cancer charity FUNdraising barbeque will have 500+ motorcycle riders, music by JP's Kitchen Party and a beer garden. The ride from Burnaby to Pemberton is to raise awareness and critical funding to support the victims of cancer and their families. Eats will be provided by The Local diner owners Edward and David who have almost half a century of professional kitchen experience under their belts.

What: Painting on the Peak - An en plein air workshop, featuring Mike Svob, David Langevin, Cameron Bird, Michael O'Toole and Nancy O'Toole. The itinerary includes a continental breakfast, demonstrations with the artists, lunch with a panel discussion, champagne artists reception and exhibition of new work. $129 per person, early bird rate $499 until 22 July. What: In-SHUCK-ch Days - Join in on the annual In-SHUCK-ch Days, a First Nations-hosted event with traditional arts, crafts, ceremonies, games and entertainment. In-SHUCK-ch Days is an event that is free and is open to the public. For information email days@inshuckch.com .

What: Go walkies for the animals - Animal lovers in the Squamish area are urged to slide into their favourite pair of walking shoes and get moving to help a furry friend. Registration is open for the annual Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause walk held each fall to raise funds for homeless and abused animals in B.C. Each year participants in 37 communities around the province walk with colleagues, friends, family and with their dogs to raise $1 million to help animals in need.

Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause will be held at the BC SPCA at 39901 Government Road on September 11. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Walk start time is noon. Activities will include: dog agility demonstration, BBQ, games, prizes and more.

Saturdays at The Point - This week, Mike Fromontreal brings his pedal-powered layered acoustics to the lakeside venue at the historic Cypress Lodge (former Whistler Hostel, 5678 Alta Lake Rd.). J'Anne Greenwood reads the third and final installment of Alex Philip's "bodice ripping" western romance The Painted Cliff at 1 p.m. Also, there is the Get to The Point! art exhibit in the lodge, the Book Shop Cafe for lunch and cold drinks on the deck. This week's drop-in artist workshops include leather working with Julia "Jules" Vagelatos at 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., and blues jamming on guitar with Papa Josh from 2:30 p.m.  -3:30 p.m.
