Warrior Dash fun for spectators

Race to take place in eight waves

Registration is closed for the first Canadian running of the Warrior Dash in Whistler this Saturday, but that doesn't mean you can't be part of the fun.

Leaving in eight waves starting at 11 a.m., some 4,500 athletes will challenge the course, which include five kilometres of running and 10 different obstacle sections.

Spectators are welcome to watch the event, which is based at Base II on Blackcomb Mountain. From the finish area, you can watch racers climb over a wall of cargo nets, jump flames and crawl under barbed wire through the obligatory mud pit. Other obstacles including crossing a gully over planks, threading your way through a web of ropes, crossing water using two anchored ropes, climbing a wall, rappelling down a steep embankment, crawling through a long, dark culvert, manoeuvring through an improvised junkyard and climbing a mountain of hay bales.
