A little bit of Whistler will be flying high above the crowds during Super Bowl XLVI.

Ziptrek Ecotours will be a featured part of this year's Super Bowl Village in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana, allowing visitors to soar in an elaborate rigging system that normally sends visitors to Whistler winging past our trees and mountains.

The company partnered with the city's Super Bowl Host Committee to create an urban zip lining experience similar to that for visitors in Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

During the 2010 Games, people waited hours in queues to try the lines out and Ziptrek CEO David Udow expects this to be the same at the Super Bowl. The Games experience led to the Super Bowl committee phoning him shortly after.

"It is undoubtedly the biggest event in the United States," he said. "It's a 10-day festival with a big NFL experience. It's going to be a really dynamic and thrilling event, capped off with the game."

Ziptrek also setup at the Grey Cup in 2010 in Edmonton and in San Francisco at a promotion for Tourism BC.

The Super Bowl Village zipline is Ziptrek's largest installation yet, with a four-line parallel setup running 244 metres along Capital Avenue, near the city's convention centre.

The festival is scheduled from Jan. 27 up to Feb. 5, Super Bowl Day, and Udow said he would be in Indianapolis on game day and preceding days to promote the company and take in the fun.

Udow could not confirm if Ziptrek is confirmed for other large-scale urban events in the future, but said discussions for several opportunities were underway.
