Recent vandalism to the Peak 2 Peak gondola Jan.19 was done by graffiti taggers says Whistler RCMP.

And it's likely that the taggers have hit other locations in B.C. including Seymour Mountain, Rossland and Nelson. The damages are estimated to be well over $10,000.

"On January 15 suspect(s) entered the Starbucks located on Hunter Place in Squamish and proceeded to damage the property by way of leaving a 'graffiti tag' in three separate areas of the business," states a press release put out by Whistler RCMP this weekend.

"This included deliberate scratching of words into a mirror, as well as surface paint inside the place of business and outside on the building. Damage is estimated to be $1,500."

The Peak 2 Peak "graffiti tag" was scratched into four separate windows causing considerable damage, and potentially compromising the integrity of the glass and the safety of the cabin say RCMP.

"Investigators are confident that the same person(s) are involved in both situations," states the RCMP release.

"Information received suggests that a group of males may have been travelling in the area visiting various ski resorts. It is believed that they may have caused considerably more damage of this of type of 'graffiti tagging' along their travels throughout various communities. Specific locations which have been identified as being possibly having been visited are, but not limited to; Seymour Mountain, Rossland and Nelson. This is not meant to rule out any others in that general travel pattern."

Whistler RCMP is seeking very specific information on these vandalism events and is asking businesses and others to reach them if they have any information about the taggers.

Any persons with further information regarding the suspect(s) are asked to contact Whistler RCMP or Crime Stoppers 1 800 222 TIPS (8477).
