What's happening this week?

A guide to TWSSF's final weekend

We're in the final stretch of what may be the final TWSSF ever. So what's in store, you ask? A whole lot of clothing, a whole lot of dancing and then, if you care as much as we do, a whole lot of crying.

Fashion Exposed

With the end of the world slated for this December, there's been but one concern ruling everyone's minds: What am I going to be caught dead in?

Fashion EXPOSED will answer this with its latest installment Armageddon, featuring an end-of-the-world themed audio-visual experience, summer 2012 and fall/winter fashions and, yes, circus performers. This year, the Freeze Dance Competition has been included in the fray. Six Vancouver dance troupes will compete for bragging rights that will take them until next year...or the end of the world, whichever comes first.

Friday, 9 p.m., Whistler Conference Centre

The end

If Fashion EXPOSED is any indication, this really is the end, which means the end of the world. It might also be the end of TWSSF, which means possibly the end of The End. That's a lot of endings! So it's time to party accordingly. Featuring chart-topping electro producer Felix Da Housecat and Vancouver's electro fortunate son Longwalkshortdock, this is poised to be a great send off for another stellar year for TWSSF. You'll be crying tears of exhaustion by the night's end, followed by tears of grief that it really, truly is the end...of the festival, anyway.

Saturday, 10 p.m. – 4 a.m., Whistler Conference Centre

A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away)

After three sold-out nights, Short Skirt Theatre's wildly popular, Whistler-centric sci-fi spoof is returning for an encore performance. Relive the love. Relive the laughter one last time. Starring Whistler's craziest attention-seekers, A Long Time Ago tells of Fluke Artois's bid to save the planet Whistleria and win the affections of Princess Orion. Relive the love. Relive the laughter, one last time. Tickets will sell out fast, and if they do, rent Space Balls. It's basically the same thing.

Sunday, 7:30 p.m., Millennium Place

Best of the Fest

For anyone who loves TWSSF so much they simply can't let go, or were too broke to buy tickets to all the previous week's events —including the winning film from the 72hr Showdown, the winning film from Intersection and the winning slideshow of photos from the Pro Photographer Showdown. There will also be a DJ inviting you to dance. There will be humans to dance with, or to converse with for the shyer attendees. All proceeds with go to Playground Builders.

Sunday, 8:30 p.m., GLC
