A new library director has been found for the Pemberton library.

Emma Gillis, who comes from a small town in Northern Ireland, will take on the position starting June 1. She was chosen from a field of more than 20 interested candidates from the local, national and international level.

"Emma has the skills and the personality to take our library to the next level," said library board chair Marnie Simon. "Not only will she be an asset to the Pemberton and District library, her strong interest in community life will make her an asset to our town."

Three years ago Gillis completed a library internship with the Whistler Public Library.

She, along with her husband, fell in love with the area and bought a home in Pemberton with the goal of making it their new home.

Gillis is a proponent of "future-proofing" libraries and the board is excited to see how she will apply her experiences to the library.
