After five years as the president and CEO of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, Fiona Famulak announced Monday that she is stepping down to take on a new challenge - president of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association.

She will remain with the chamber until the end of July and will be working with chair Sue Adams and other members of a Search Committee to find a replacement.

"My time as CEO has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding," she said in a statement. "Spearheading change in an organization is never an easy task. However, I am very passionate about our chamber and extremely proud of the work we have accomplished at both operational and board levels that has helped to ensure we better understand and serve our members, be financially accountable as an organization and be a strong advocate and respected partner both in and outside the report."

Famulak also listed her achievements during her time as head of the chamber, including the development of a five-year Strategic Direction 2012-2016 document that defines four areas of strategic focus; development of an improved board governance model including new bylaws and tools; and enhanced member engagement via forums like the monthly 12@12 sessions; enhanced partnerships within the municipality.

Famulak also noted that work would continue through the summer on other initiatives, including tiered memberships, educational pieces around Whistler Business First, and continued fine-tuning of development and advocacy processes.
