Whistler RCMP is investigating an attack on a cyclist that occurred at roughly 3:00 a.m. on the morning of June 1. They received the call at roughly 3:45 a.m., about 40 minutes after the attack took place - the victim had lost her phone in the unprovoked attack on the Valley Trail between Whistler and Blueberry Hill.

According to the woman, she was riding her bicycle southbound and passed a group of males. While passing, one of the males kicked her bike and she fell off. As she was getting to her feet one of the males kicked her on the buttocks. The girl then picked up her bike and rode off, with the men chasing her for about 200 metres before giving up.

The woman only got a good look at one of the suspects. He's described as South Asian, five-foot-eight or -nine with a beard, jeans and hoodie. He was between 25 and 30 years old. The group contained three white males and another South Asian male.

She was not injured in the attack, but lost her phone in her fall from the bike. Police are now attempting to track the phone.

If you have any information contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Man hit with hammer in dispute

A 19-year-old Pemberton male was still in custody on June 4 and awaiting a psychiatric assessment after attacking a 48-year-old male with a hammer on Sunday, June 2.

The RCMP got a call at 11:15 p.m. regarding a female that was heard screaming on Balsam Street. The police met the witness when they arrived who said a female left the house and drove off.

That's when the police received a report regarding the assault. The injured male had been taken by his daughter to the Pemberton Clinic for treatment, where they got a description of the suspect.

The suspect was located in the backyard of a neighbouring residence and arrested for assault. He was known to the family, and may have been dating the daughter of the victim.
