Summer in Whistler, what could be sweeter?
The resort's information trade show will get that message to workers by telling them what Whistler has to offer and giving them the chance to speak to representatives from 85 local businesses from galleries to outdoor activities to restaurants.
"It's for everyone who works in Whistler to get to know what's available for the summer and we really encourage everyone to come and meet business owners and employees and find out what there is to do," said Jody Warren of Tourism Whistler, which cohosts the event with the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
"There will be vastly different businesses there, anything from hotel partners to activity partners to retail, restaurants, pretty much everybody."
The trade show takes place on June 18 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Whistler Conference Centre. The last one was in December, with 350 new workers taking part. Along with Warren, Cathie Coyle of the Village Host program also arranged the event.
"We're building on the winter event and hoping to have the same kind of attendance to showcase the summer activities here at Whistler," Warren said.
Participants can also try complimentary drinks and appetizers, and can enter for one of 85 door prizes by taking part in a "passport stamping" activity designed to get people visiting as many of the businesses as possible.
