All three of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce white papers presented at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce meeting in Kelowna on Sept. 30 have been passed unanimously by more than 400 delegates.

Whistler Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Val Litwin said members should be proud that local policy issues have been raised to the national level.

"Following the approval by the national assembly of the three policy papers, the Canadian chamber will now build an advocacy plan that includes these three approved resolutions so that these may now be advanced by the Canadian chamber's advocacy efforts," Litwin said in an emailed response to questions.

The first paper dealt with improving air access for the benefit of the economy. The second paper, Enhancing working holiday visas, addresses Canada's labour shortage while the third paper, Streamlined visa process, is about boosting visitation to Canada from emerging economies.

"There was significant focus on visa policies given our profile in the tourism sector and the need to address the question of our ability to attract quality workers to the resort," said Litwin, acknowledging the support of the Vancouver Board of Trade and Tourism Whistler throughout the process.
