The annual resort rankings are in, and Whistler Blackcomb is furthering its reputation as a world-class ski resort in 2013 with four "best overall" rankings from industry leaders.

Freeskier Magazine, the SBC Resort Guide, Onthesnow.com and the Ski Club of Great Britian's annual report all named Whistler Blackcomb as the No. 1 resort in their annual rankings or poll.

The ski resort also earned an abundance of accolades from various publications and websites this year, including being named as the No. 1 Landmark in Canada in Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice Awards, the Best Gondola View in North America by Liftopia.com and the Best Winter Destination by Georgia Straight.

"Our success is credited to our prime geographical location which results in great snow and an incredible variety of terrain, but what really makes the difference is our people," said Stuart Rempel, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Whistler Blackcomb in a release. "Our staff strives every day to provide the best and most memorable experiences to all of our guests and these awards are proof of that effort. We constantly aim to improve our physical assets as we respect our natural environment."

Whistler Blackcomb will strive to enhance their international reputation this winter with the $18-million addition of the Crystal Ridge Express and Harmony 6 Express chairs.

"The addition of the Crystal Ridge Express and the Harmony 6 Express chairs this winter will heighten the guest experience by moving people around the mountain more efficiently to their favorite zones," Rempel said. "We're confident these expansions, along with our focus on guest service, will allow us to remain at the top."

The mountain is officially slated to open Nov. 28.
