The proponents of the Garibaldi at Squamish proposal are holding an information open house next week as the project enters a new phase of public consultation.
The B.C. Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) is accepting public comments on the proposed mountain resort until Jan. 7. The consultation comes following the submission of new information by the project proponents. Project consultants recently submitted water study results. Engineers report water for the resort can be supplied by pumping it from an aquifer in the Cheakamus River valley.
The open house hosted by the project promoters is set for Wednesday, Dec. 18 from noon to 8 p.m. at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park.
The EAO is accepting comments about the project proposed for Brohm Ridge through the EAO website, by mail and by fax.
The project proponents want to build a four-season resort with 23 lifts over 124 trails to offer skiing and snowboarding in the winter and mountain bike riding in the summer, along with two golf courses. The proposal also includes private residential developments and hotel accommodations.
