The Whistler Film Festival (WFF) wants you to help it greet Oscar.
WFF is hosting its second annual Oscar Party to celebrate the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the FireRock Lounge at the Westin Resort and Spa. It runs from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
It opens with a red carpet après, where the stars and their fashion feats and faux-pas can be cheered and jeered over, followed by the awards themselves.
Several films that screened at 2014 WFF are up for awards, including Still Alice, The Theory of Everything, The Imitation Game and Song of the Sea. Dean Deblois, the Canadian director of the Best Animation nominee How to Train Your Dragon 2, was also at the festival in December to receive a Trailblazer in Animation Award.
Guests are encouraged to dress for the party in their best Oscar-worthy attire, as their favourite film character, or as a movie star. There is an Oscar pool for guessing the winners, Oscar trivia and a grand prize raffle.

Squamish Valley Music Festival lineup to be announced on Thursday
Organizers of the Squamish Valley Music Festival are announcing the lineup for the 2015 event on Thursday, Feb. 19.
The announcement will be made in Vancouver at 11:30 a.m.
The 2015 festival takes place at the Logger Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields in Squamish on Aug. 7, 8 and 9. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, Feb. 26.

Application date for VSO Institute extended
March 12 is now the application deadline to apply for the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute at Whistler (VSOIW).
The institute will offer intensive eight-day orchestral education classes to talented music students.
Ten early student submissions have already been received. The Resort Municipality of Whistler said it expects approximately 30 students in the first year.
Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 23 and must submit a video-recorded audition with the application. Tuition is $1,250 for the summer program, which runs June 28 to July 5.
"Due to a high degree of interest and inquiries about the Vancouver Symphony Institute at Whistler, the application deadline for our inaugural year has been extended to March 12," the VSOIW said in a statement.
