A Minnesota man faces sexual assault charges after allegedly sticking a beer bottle up a woman’s skirt, police said.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 28, officers on foot patrol in Whistler Village were approached by a doorman from a nearby club who said a male had been bothering a group of women.

A woman from the group then approached police to say that the male had stuck a beer bottle up her skirt and “pressed it on her genitals,” said Whistler RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair. He also reportedly spat on the women.

The 28-year-old American was held for court.

Whistler man charged with trying to assault cop following car accident

A Whistler man faces multiple charges after a car accident led to an altercation with police at his home, where he allegedly tried to assault an officer.

The suspect was reportedly involved in a collision with another vehicle on Sundial Crescent the evening of Aug. 26. A woman told police the man was “aggressive and yelling” following the accident, and eventually fled the scene, according to police.

After being provided with a description of the male and his license plate number, Mounties attended the suspect’s home to execute an arrest. At this point, police said the man, 33-year-old Tristan Galbraith, “resisted and attempted to assault a police officer,” said LeClair.

He was held in custody for court and has been formally charged with assault, resisting arrest and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Galbraith, a local business owner, ran for a spot on council in Whistler’s November municipal elections. He garnered 162 votes.

Pemberton man arrested for trafficking

A 20-year-old Pemberton man has been charged with trafficking drugs after reportedly being caught red-handed by police in the village on Aug. 28.

While on foot patrol, police observed three males huddled behind a Main Street business when an officer noticed a brown pill in one of the man’s hands.

“The officer only had time to say, ‘Police!’ before the suspect ran southbound,” LeClair said.

After managing to trip the suspect, a struggle ensued, ultimately leading to his arrest, police said.

A subsequent search uncovered 12 baggies of what Mounties suspect was either cocaine or MDMA packaged for sale.

A 16-year-old female told cops that the man came up to her on Aug. 26 in an area behind the Cliffside Pub to ask “if she would like to see his penis,” according to police.

The teen declined and left the scene without incident.

The suspect was described as a Caucasian of thin build, around 19 or 20 years old, approximately 5-9 in height with light brown hair.
