Event tickets for the World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF) have gone on sale.

The 10-day celebration of winter and mountain culture takes place from April 8 to 17.

The events now on sale include Multiplicity, with unique storytelling from mountain adventurers, the Whistler Comedy Showdown, The Olympus 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown, The Olympus Pro Photographer Showdown, sports-action filmmaking competition Intersection, and The END wrap-up party.

Other events include the Best of the Fest and the Silent Disco.

The WSSF is also calling for entrants for Intersection by Feb. 19. Eight spots are up for grabs.

Registration for the 72 Hour Filmmaker Challenge has not yet opened.

The 2016 WSSF event schedule also includes non-ticketed events, such as the State of the ART gallery and opening party in the grand foyer of the Whistler Conference Centre, sports events and free daily concerts at the Fido Outdoor Concert Series.For more information and tickets to all events visit www.wssf.com.

Maureen Douglas named WAC managing consultant

Former Chair of the Board for the Whistler Arts Council (WAC), Maureen Douglas, has been appointed to lead the organization through the selection of a replacement for executive director Doti Niedermayer.

Douglas resigned from the WAC board to take on the interim position.The search for Niedermayer's replacement is expected to take several months."WAC Staff is one of the organization's greatest strengths," said acting board chair Heather Paul in a press release."Board members have been working with them to gather their contributions to the next chapter of the organization's evolution and leadership. As part of the review and recruitment process, the board and managing consultant will also be reaching out to partners for input and to ensure a smooth transition."

Niedermayer resigned from the position after 13 years to take on the role of senior manager of cultural development, with the District of West Vancouver. She leaves WAC in mid-February.There will be a community reception and presentation to wish Niedermayer well as she moves on and to welcome Douglas to her new role.

It takes place at the Maury Young Arts Centre on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
