A 33-year-old man was arrested last week in connection with a stabbing that police say stemmed from an earlier altercation.

At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, Whistler RCMP responded to a report of a bleeding man who had collapsed in the lobby of a village hotel.

Further investigation revealed that the victim, a 22-year-old U.S. resident, had been in a dispute with an acquaintance which resulted in a non-lethal wound to one of his forearms, police said in a release. The American was taken to the Whistler Health Care Centre for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

Officers later tracked down and arrested the suspect, a resident of Greater Vancouver, who was released from custody with a future court date, police said.

Police believe the stabbing "was a targeted and isolated incident."

Anyone with information on the stabbing who has not already spoken with police is asked to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Sea to Sky Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
