A man who robbed a Squamish liquor store last fall has been sentenced to prison, according to police.

On the night of Oct. 2, 2016, Aaron Hastie entered the Sea to Sky Hotel Beer and Wine Store wielding what appeared to be a handgun before robbing the store and fleeing on foot. Within days, Squamish RCMP tracked Hastie down and charged him with multiple crimes.

He appeared in court on July 18 and was sentenced to four years for robbery, use of an imitation firearm, and disguise with intent. With credit for time served, police said Hastie would end up spending just under three years in jail.

“This file is a perfect example of multiple RCMP sections and units combining for a successful outcome and prosecution,” said Cpl. Sascha Banks in a release. “Squamish RCMP would also like to thank the Squamish community for their assistance in the investigation.”
