The FUNction Block Party is a go for Sunday, Aug. 27 in Function Junction, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Those interested in volunteering can check out www.fjwhistlerassoc.com to find out where they can lend a hand.

Interested parties can also register for the FUNction Flea Market on the website by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25.

Tables for art displays, the artisan market and garage sale are $30 to register, while clothing racks and display units are $15. Organizers anticipate between 500 and 1,000 people throughout the day.

The event kicks off with bike decorating in Bayly Park at 10 a.m., followed by a bike parade at 11 a.m.

Family fun with interactive booths, carnival games, art displays and more takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a barbecue, beer gardens and more are scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. at Home Hardware.

Live music and other entertainment will take place throughout the day. Check out the website for complete event details.

Locals are encouraged to bike or take the free weekend transit to Function for the event, which has also committed to going "zero waste."

The event also hopes to raise awareness and funds for the Function Junction Association, which is pushing for a comprehensive sidewalk strategy in the light industrial neighbourhood.
