Biathletes from across the province got rolling at Whistler Olympic Park last weekend.
Sea to Sky Nordics hosted the BC Summer Biathlon Championships with roughly 25 athletes taking part each day.
In the individual events on Aug. 26, Sea to Sky Nordics swept the junior women's 10-kilometre as Benita Peiffer shared the podium with Kaede Kawano and Larissa Black. In the junior men's 15-km race, Robin Favre knocked off Angus Tweedie and Ryan Elden for gold.
In the 7.5-km events, Ethan Algra medalled alongside Cole Bender and Emmanuel Bussani in the senior men's event while Claire Lesawich edged out Natalie Benoit and Linnea Moutray in the senior women's. William Tang and Sofie Hill were the lone competitors in the junior boys and girls six-km events, repectively.
In sprint action the next day, Peiffer took the six-km event over Gillian Gowling and Black, while Favre bested Elden and Tweedie in the 10-km race. Meanwhile, in the senior events, Algra scored the win over Arman Soheili and Bender for the men, while Moutray took the win over Benoit and Lesawich for the women. Tang once again won in the junior boys category.

Tchernetsky makes World Cup debut
It was a young woman's world at the first FIS World Cup slopestyle event of the season in Cardrona, New Zealand on Aug. 27.
Whistler's Sofia Tchernetsky, who will turn 15 in October, finished 24th in her World Cup debut with a best score of 41.60. Two others born earlier in 2002 hit the podium, as Estonia's Kelly Sildaru earned the win and Sweden's Jennie-Lee Burmansson was third.
Switzerland's Giulia Tanno, herself just 19, was second. Two Canadians made the final as Dara Howell and Whistler's Yuki Tsubota were seventh and eighth, respectively.
As for the men, Great Britain's James Woods was first, followed by Swiss competitors Andri Ragettli and Fabian Boesch. Canadians Evan McEachran and Alex Beaulieu-Marchand both made the finals, placing 15th and 16th, respectively, while Whistler's Teal Harle was 21st.
Westside Wheel Up returning
Save the date for the Westside Wheel Up.
The legendary locals' race will run for the 21st time on Saturday, Sept. 16 at noon with registration beginning at Whistler Brewing Company at 10 a.m.
Racers must be WORCA members to participate; licenses will be available at registration.
All proceeds are donated to charity, with the bulk going to the B.C. Para-Alpine Team, which race organizer Phil Chew coached until 2014.

Valley to Peak Race coming Saturday
The third edition of The North Face Valley to Peak Race is slated for Saturday, Sept. 2.
New this year will be a 10-kilometre race in addition to the classic 22.5-km event. The longer race will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the shorter one kicking off at 9:30 a.m.
Participants can register online until noon on Friday, Sept. 1 for $40 for the 10-km race and $65 for the 22.5-km race. Last-minute in-person registration will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 1 at The North Face store and from 7 to 8 a.m. near the start line in Skier's Plaza.
