Squamish pot dispensary held up at gunpoint in 'brazen' daylight robbery

Two suspects, described as Caucasian males in their 20s, remain at large

A Squamish cannabis dispensary was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight last week, police said.

On Friday, Dec. 1 at about 3:30 p.m., employees at the 99 North Medical Cannabis Dispensary on Second Avenue called police to report that two males had entered the shop and used a firearm to rob the store. Police did not indicate what was stolen.

The two suspects reportedly fled north to Vancouver Street, where a truck was waiting for them, police said.

"For such a brazen robbery with firearms in the middle of the daytime on a Friday (it) has been very scary for the community of Squamish and those who were working in and around the Dispensary," said Cpl. Sascha Banks in a release. "We are very lucky no one was hurt and it is essential we get criminals like this off the street."

The suspects remain at large and are described as Caucasian, in their 20s, and both wearing black hoodies at the time of the incident.

Dispensary owner Bryan Raiser took to Facebook following the incident to thank the community for "the outpouring of love and support" he has received. He also said "immediate and dramatic changes" had been implemented to prevent another robbery at the store. The shop opened as usual on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Police are asking the public for any tips that will lead them to the suspects or their getaway truck, described as a recent-model, silver Ford F-150 with some markings on the side. It was last seen in the vicinity of Loggers Lane driving at a high rate of speed, police said.

Those with relevant information are asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100 or Sea to Sky Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8277 to remain anonymous.
