The Whistler Chamber of Commerce held its election for Board of Directors (BOD) members last week, selecting Andrea Bischoff, Bruce MacMillan and incumbent Sarah Strother to serve three-year terms starting this January.

"As a board we're very pleased. We had six really qualified candidates, and we were pleased that three of them were successful," said Theresa Walterhouse, chair of the Chamber BOD. "It's nice to have Sarah continue on the board as she brings a lot of expertise and some continuity for us, and I know that Andrea and Bruce are really excited to join the board team and bring their perspective and their skills to help make business easy in Whistler."

Voting was held at an annual general meeting on Dec. 7, before the chamber's holiday lunch. The newly elected candidates will be sworn in at the first meeting of the new year.

Bischoff and MacMillan will be filling the seats vacated by retiring board members Kyle Hanney and Grant Cousar. This is Strother's second term on the board.

Bischoff is a program manager at both Back in Motion Rehab and Work BC Employment Services. MacMillan is the managing director of business development at Whistler Sport Legacies. Strother is the president of Whistler Publishing LP, which publishes several magazines along with Pique and the Whistler Question.

Each candidate has been a member, or representative of members in good standing of the Whistler Chamber for a minimum of two years and have had their nomination endorsed by three members in good standing. They were all interviewed by a nominations committee and determined to be fully aware of the role and responsibilities of a director.
