An 8.5-hectare wildfire burning 12 kilometres east of Pemberton is 100-per-cent contained, according to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

Report of the fire just off of the Duffey Lake Road came in late Friday night, said Donna MacPherson, communications specialist with the BCWS' Coastal Fire Centre.

"Our crews left at first light on Saturday morning, and were able to get the fires 60-per-cent contained on that day," MacPherson said, adding that the crew of 14 returned the next day along with an industry contract crew of five.

"They were able to get the fire to 100-per-cent containment by end of day on Sunday. Today, we have five BCWS crew people and five industry crew people working on the fire, who are working to move the fire from 'Being Held' into 'Patrol.'"

The fire is human-caused, and an investigation is ongoing.

No heavy equipment or helicopters were used on the fire, and the entire response was all done by hand. Highway 99 was not impacted.
