The Writers Adventure Camp is returning to The Point Artist-Run Centre for its fourth year from June 6 to 10.
This year, award-winning writers will lead participants in workshops like fiction, nonfiction, screenwriting for TV, Gonzo literary comics and songwriting. "Adventure campers will be encouraged to think about how their stories and ideas can move fluidly across platforms," according to a release.
Marcus Youssef, who won the 2017 national Siminovitch Prize for Theatre, will be on hand to teach participants about how to convert their ideas to the stage.
Returning this year after a strong response in 2017 is the afternoon session on Performance for Writers.
Registration for the full camp ends on May 11 while the deadline for the afternoon workshops is May 23.

Show Us Your Whistler photo challenge
The Whistler Multicultural Network has teamed up with the Whistler Public Library for a photo contest called Show Us Your Whistler.
Locals are invited to submit a photo that captures their idea of community connections or community participation for a chance to win prizes. To help them sharpen their skills, the organizations are hosting a free photography workshop on Saturday, May 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the library. Local photographer Toshi Kawano will teach participants about photo composition and technique.
The deadline for the photo contest is Monday, May 21. Judges will be looking for fit and relevance, creativity, technical quality and overall impression. Everyone is welcome to submit two photos for each category—community connections and community participation—and one age group. New artist in residence
Mountain Galleries Whistler is welcoming a new artist in residence from May 22 to 24. On those days, Corrinne Wolcoski will be working in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel lobby from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The Vancouver-based landscape artist draws inspiration from the West Coast and exploring the scenery between destinations.

Audain art museum wins award
The architects behind the Audain Art Museum received a Governor General's medal for architecture last Monday, May 7.
Patkau Architects is one of 12 recipients this year. "The recipients of the 2018 Governor General's Medal's in Architecture demonstrate excellence of design and diversity of purpose," says Michael Cox, president of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, which announced the awards in conjunction with the Canada Council for the Arts, in a release. "In each project, it's clear that the site is important, with the architects drawing inspiration from cultural and natural history."
The jury also highlighted the architects effort to take the building's location into consideration, as well as their "masterful control of artificial and natural light."
They also singled out the building's entrance and, overall, called it "complex and serene, a masterpiece on every level."
