Cougar Mountain’s old growth forest is getting a light makeover this summer.

Montreal-based Moment Factory is teaming up with The Adventure Group (TAG) to create Vallea Lumina, a multimedia light show with videos, soundscapes and scenography.

“This multimedia experience invites guests into an enchanting universe, inspired by Whistler’s unparalleled natural beauty and local culture,” according to a release.

The company has created seven other “nightwalk experiences” around the globe, and collaborated with musical acts like Madonna and Arcade Fire.

“Introducing an interactive, outdoor, multimedia nightwalk is an exiting evolution for us, and one I can’t wait to share,” said Joey Houssain, founder and CEO of TAG, in the release. “The collaboration between Moment Factory and The Adventure Group has been very special and to see two leaders in their respective fields come together to create something like this for Whistler has been rewarding in many ways, not least of which has been working with some of the most creative people on the planet.”

Vallea Lumina will kick off on July 18 and run daily until October. It begins at sundown and takes place every 20 minutes along a 1.5 km trial that takes 60 minutes to complete.

A complimentary shuttle service will be offered from Whistler Village to Cougar Mountain.

Tickets are $29 for adults (over 16) and $24 for youth (ages six to 15). Children five and under will be free.
