Whistler RCMP said 35-year-old James Donald Russell left the community after his identity was released by the Attorney General’s office Dec. 20.

Whistler RCMP said 35-year-old James Donald Russell left the community after his identity was released by the Attorney General’s office Dec. 20.

Community police officer Warren Tomalty said Russell, who is on probation, had told Whistler RCMP he would leave if they were successful in making his name and photograph public. RCMP applied to the Privacy Commissioner to have Russell’s identity released as soon as he moved into town.

A statement from the corrections branch of the Ministry of the Attorney General said Russell is considered a high risk to re-offend. “He may seek out contact with young boys to establish an offending relationship.”
