Variety is truly the spice of life at Tourism Whistler’s first Whistler Arts and Music Festival this weekend.
The main stage in Village Square hosts a wide range of world music acts all day Friday, July 9 (today) and Saturday, July 10.
On Friday, check out the authentic south-of-the-border sounds of Mariachi del Sol along with good-time Caribbean calypso/reggae troupe Soul Survivors and passionate music/dance troupe Tango Paradiso on the main stage.
On Saturday, Soul Survivors are back, along with 14-member Afro-Cuban ensemble Bara-rumba. Latin jazz group Rumba Calzada – feature performers at last year’s ArtRageous gala event – return to Whistler for a series of main stage sets starting at 5 p.m.
The Squamish Nation’s vibrant Eagle Song Dancers will be performing throughout the village Friday and Saturday.
Local acts Rob Funk and Tragically Hick perform at various village locations all day Saturday.
There will be no main stage performances on Sunday, July 11. Instead look for an all local lineup of Josh Gontier, Tragically Hick, The Rutherford Creek Collective, Kosta-Man and Greasy Jack & Julie Ann Rigby, playing at various village locations between noon and 4 p.m.
