Adams third in Vancouver Tri

Whistler's Mike Adams placed third in the Vancouver Triathlon on Sept. 7, completing the Olympic-distance course (1,500 metre swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run) in two hours and 12 seconds.

Whistler's Mike Adams placed third in the Vancouver Triathlon on Sept. 7, completing the Olympic-distance course (1,500 metre swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run) in two hours and 12 seconds. He also placed first in the men's 20 to 24 age group and was first out of the water with a swim time of 19:13. He was third on the bike in 1:02:59.

Fero Piliar was 27 th in men's 30 to 34 in 2:47:42.

Derek Gagne of Squamish placed 17 th in men's 35 to 39 in 2:35:35. Troy Angrignon was 31 st in men's 40 to 44 in 3:11:53.

In the Sprint distance race (750 metre swim, 20 km bike and five km run), Pemberton's Kai Riess placed a solid seventh overall out of 270 racers and first in Junior Men with a time of 1:07:16. He was eighth on both the bike and run.

Mia Daniels of Whistler was 58 th overall and first in women's 20 to 24 in 1:19:21.

 

Young riders on top at home

The Green River Motocross Track hosted a CMRC fall series event last weekend with two days of racing for all ages and classes.

Among locals, Dawson Amann placed second in 65 cc races on Saturday and Sunday, while Zeb Fellows was sixth and second in the 85cc category, and Wyatt Fellows was seventh and fourth respectively.

Jordan Schnurr was third in two days in MX2 Beginner.

Squamish's Justin Patjas, racing in the MX1 Pro class, placed second on Saturday and first on Sunday.

A total of 140 riders turned out, as well as a lot of spectators and friends and family supporting riders.

 

All Star Wrestling rebounds into Squamish

Back by popular demand, All Star Wrestling is returning to Squamish with "Sea to Sky Mayhem" - five wrestling matches taking place at Totem Hall on Friday, Sept. 18.

The event opens with All Star Wrestling alumni Big Bad Chad and The Mighty Iton, followed by a bout between The Panama Wasp and "Mayor" Austin Spencer. Spencer, if you're a fan, is the only B.C. wrestler ever to train at the World Wrestling Entertainment facility in Florida.

The Grudge Match portion of the evening features "Golden Lion" Gurv Sihra versus "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck, both of whom have a chance at a title shot depending on the outcome of the battle. Ryseck is based out of Tacoma, and was just featured on the MTV show Made.

Next up is the PWA B.C. Championship heavyweight match featuring "Prince Of Power" Lak Siddartha, the reigning champion, versus Johnny Obsession.

The Main Event is a tag team championship scheduled for two of three falls. Collin Cutler and Adam Fedyk (The Kelownafornians), who won their tag team titles in August, and will rematch against Seth Knight and The Great Kasaki, the previous champions.

Tickets are $15 for the front row, and general admission is $12. Kids under 12 are $10.

You can pick up your tickets in advance at Billie's Bouquet on Cleveland or Totem Hall, or at the door at 7:15 p.m. on fight night.

 

Lululemon hosts Tri Lu-Lu

Whistler's Lululemon Athletica store is hosting a laid back triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 19 featuring a 30 minute spin at The Core, followed by a 30 minute run on Lost Lake Trails. The third event is a 30 minute Yoga session in Rebagliati Park.

The event is free, and gets underway at the store at 8:45 a.m.

 

WORCA looking for trail volunteers

After a strong start to the season attendance is slipping at WORCA trail maintenance events. If you want to do your part for the trails and wrangle yourself an invite to WORCA's year-end VIP party on Oct. 8 there are two opportunities left.

This Saturday, Sept. 19 WORCA is hosting a trail day to help finish the new Shit Happens connector to Alpine. If you can help out meet at the north end of Valley Drive in Alpine Meadows at 9 a.m. Bring water, food, proper clothes and tools you might have, and prepare for around three hours of work - or more if volunteers are willing.

The final trail day is on Sept.26. More details will be announced at www.worca.com.

Last Toonie Ride approaching...

The final WORCA Toonie Ride of the season takes place on Sept. 24 this year, hosted by The Brewhouse. The Sept. 17 event is hosted by Garbanzo Bike and Bean and the Whistler Fire Department, with sign-on at the Garbanzo Bike and Bean at 5:30 p.m. More details for the final ride will be posted at www.worca.com.

As well, WORCA will be hosting its annual general meeting on Oct. 22, followed by the annual Halloween Ride on Oct. 29.
