Whistler resident Sue Adams has been nominated for the Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Whistler resident Sue Adams has been nominated for the Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award. Adams, who with her husband Bob is co-owner of Bevendale Enterprises, the company that owns The Grocery Store, The Upper Village Market and Market Catering, was nominated under the lifetime achievement category. The category is for entrepreneurial pioneers with 20 or more years in business who have set an example for other women. Last month Adams told Pique, "I think women are just really finding their feet in the business world and I would think that it wouldn’t be too long before we need not differentiate between women in business and men in business. But I think women are still in catch-up mode." Adams is a member of the Western Business Women’s Association and has owned and operated small businesses for the past 25 years. Adams’ nomination was announced this week by Small Business Minister Jan Pullinger. The Whistler resident is one of 29 British Columbia women nominated for awards in six categories. Regional finalists will be announced Nov. 2. Winners in the six categories will be announced Nov. 29-30 at the annual awards dinner and conference in Toronto. The award program was initiated in 1992 by the Women’s Entrepreneurship Program, Faculty of Management, University of Toronto.
