It's been nearly three months since Ali Milner was voted off CBC's Cover Me Canada and — surprise! surprise! — she's as chipper as ever.
Yes, Whistler's favourite redhead is living life, playing shows and giving in to little of the post-singing-contest blues that we imagine so many feel after stints on American Idol, or whatever.
Not Milner though. Nope. From what we can tell, Milner possesses none of the physiological requirements to be hard-done-by. With that said, having been treated like a star, put up in a fancy Toronto hotel and playing alongside Canadian musical luminaries was a dream come true.
Coming home, she says, has been something of an adjustment.
"For the first little while, it was bit of a shock coming back, even if I didn't realize it. I ended up getting a job at a store called Gravity Pop — a nice shoe store, so I can look at shoes all day —but mostly so I can have a structure and talk to people every day and feel a level of normality again," she says in a phone interview with Pique.
She's been playing regularly around Vancouver and will play her first show in Whistler since Cover Me Canada this Saturday at the GLC, supporting Hey Ocean!
"I can't wait to see some familiar faces and just say thank you to everybody behind a microphone. The support that everybody at home gave me was just unreal, so it's going to be such a fun night," she says.
