After a strong start, Anderson, the reigning overall World Cup champion for the past three season, ran into difficulty in the quarter-finals. He ended the day in seventh, earning more points towards his World Cup standings.
As one of the few athletes that specializes in several events – snowboard cross, parallel slalom, parallel giant slalom, and even halfpipe and big air in the past – Anderson once again has a good chance at claiming the overall World Cup title.
The three podium spots went to Swiss riders, who are on top of the alpine standings this year. In first was Philipp Schoch, followed by Heinz Inniger and Roland Haldi.
Another Canadian rider, Philppe Berube, was 25 th out of 54 starters.
In the women’s event, Swiss riders also claimed the top two spots, with Ursula Bruhin edging past Daniela Meuli in the finals. Julie Pomagalski of France was third.
The top Canadian was Kamloops’s Aimee Newton in 24 th . Constance Boisvert of Ste-Foy, Quebec was 29 th .
