Anderson world GS champion

You knew he was good, but even Jasey Jay Anderson had no idea that he was that good.

The Quebec-based snowboarder became the first world champion racer of the century with a convincing giant slalom win at Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, on Jan. 22.

"My goal was to win here, I can’t believe I just accomplished my goal," said Anderson. "I had tremendous support right before my run. People were saying ‘go get it Jasey, you can do it’ – everyone was backing me up and this feels damn good.

"It has been a long trip and I had some good victories on the way but I haven’t been doing as good as I wanted in GS."

Dejan Kosir of Solvenia was the runner up, and Walter Feichter of Italy claimed the bronze medal.
