The third King of the Rail session of the season took place this past Saturday, Jan. 20, under the lights at the base of Blackcomb with another strong field. Some of the usual faces were missing due to the Atomic Ski and Snowboard Cross event, but there was a solid turnout for most categories.
As always the participants themselves voted for the winners in each category, with the athletes getting a share of the entry fees based on the number of participants they were up against in the hour and a half rail jam.
Patrick Duval won the most votes in the Ski Adult Male 16 and Over category, and a $30 prize.
Drew Rogers won the Snowboard Adult Male 16 and Over category, and a $60 payday.
Devin White won the Ski Youth 15 and Under category and $20. He also won the draw prize for a pair of Atomic skis at the end of the evening.
Patrick Holland won the Snowboard Youth 15 and Under category and $5.
Kara Rennie won the voting in the Snowboard Female All Ages category and $10.
The next rail jam is the third annual Queen of the Rail contest on Feb. 10, open to females only. The cost is $5 to take part with a valid Night Moves lift pass, and registration gets underway in the Blackcomb Daylodge at 5 p.m.
