Armchair adventures

The Teluride Mountain Film Tour is back Wednesday, Feb. 8 and Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at MY Millennium Place.

Sports and mountain culture junkies can expect the kind of armchair adventures in ice climbing, sailing, base jumping and skiing that the five-year festival is famous for, along with human interest and cultural exploration films.

"It’s not going to be just steep and deep skiing movies," said Ashley Boling, Telluride organizer.

"There will be some humour and special places and beings that are worth saving."

Whether a tale of heroic feats on ice or a struggle for environmental justice, the touring film fest aims to expose viewers to forward-thinking ideas, global awareness and of course some adrenalin sports.

An official schedule was not available in time for press. Films over the two nights will include Remembering Timothy Treadwell , Krumped, The Hockey Nomad , Shaman’s Apprentice , Lost People of Mountain Village, Shiva’s Matted Locks , Time for a New God , Stealing Altitude and Images .

Tickets are $15 per night or $25 for both nights.

All proceeds benefit the Whistler Blackcomb Environmental Fund.

Call 604-935-8410 for tickets.
