Arts Council accepting student award nominations

The Whistler Arts Council is currently accepting nominations of elementary and high school students from Whistler, Pemberton and Mount Currie for its annual student art awards and summer arts bursary.

The Whistler Arts Council is currently accepting nominations of elementary and high school students from Whistler, Pemberton and Mount Currie for its annual student art awards and summer arts bursary.

One Grade 12 graduate from each secondary school in Whistler, Pemberton and Mount Currie will be selected to receive the $500 Art Award, which honours achievement in the visual, literary, performing or media arts.

The Arts Council will also be awarding one graduating student each from Myrtle Philip and Spring Creek Community schools in Whistler and Signal Hill Elementary in Pemberton with a $100 Art Award.

The $250 Summer Arts Bursary will be awarded to one student in any grade from Myrtle Philip and Spring Creek Community Schools, Whistler Secondary, Alta Lake, Signal Hill Elementary, Pemberton Secondary and Xit’olacw Community Schools, who will be attending an arts camp or program during the summer.

Application forms for all awards are available at each school or from the Arts Council offices. Deadline for application is set at May 3, 2004.
