WHAT: Whistler Arts Experience

WHERE: All over Whistler

WHEN: July 2-7

Whistler’s second annual Arts Experience kicks off July 2. What started as a weekend event has grown to a week long artistic adventure for the whole family. The event will feature six days of seminars, gallery tours, artists at work in the village, as well as the signature social event, ArtRageous.

Workshops are being offered for all skill levels in everything from photography and darkroom printing, to balloon sculpture and soapstone carving and oil and watercolour painting.

Kids and families will enjoy several free outdoor programs. The Camp Summer Sensations ArtsZone offers budding artists aged 6-12 the chance to display their talents while taking part in interactive and exciting activities. And Clown Evolution, hosted by Tickles, will delight kids of all ages with the history and meaning behind clown make-up and dress. You can stroll through the village and observe some of Whistler finest artists as they demonstrate their craft, or let an experienced guide introduce you to village galleries.

If you prefer to find multiple talents all under one roof, don’t miss ArtRageous July 6 in the Whistler Conference Centre. This evening of vivid and fantastic works of all shapes and mediums has been a favourite celebration in the community for over seven years, and it just keeps getting bigger.

For full information on schedules, availability and prices, contact the Whistler Arts Council at 935-8419 or drop by their new office located in Maurice Young Millennium Place.
