Atomic halfpipe results

Although the visibility alternated from bad to worse as fog rolled in and out of the valley last Saturday, the organizers of this year’s Atomic Skier Pipe event managed to get every competitor through for at least one judged run.

The 13 and under Open category saw Nick Leboe, Callum Pettit, and Marshall Talbot finishing with scores of 19.9, 19.8 and 19.7 respectively.

Another Leboe, Nick’s older brother Ryan, won the boys 14 and 15 contest with a score of 22.2. Time Crosby was second with an 18.5, and Reed Holm was third with an 18.3.

The Men’s 16 and over category went to Mike Richards with a 22.6. Tim Clough was second with a 19.6, and Matt Crosby third with a 17.7.

Christina Duff won the amateur women’s category uncontested.

Kristi Richards won the Pro women’s category with a score of 20.3. Candice Drouin, a local skier and rider who seems to make it into the Pique every week with strong results in snowboarding and skiing competitions, was second with a 17.3 Sarah Bouchard was third with a 16.8.

There were 17 entries in the Pro men’s category, and the calibre of talent was nothing short of incredible. Competitors were landing McTwists, switch McTwists, Alley Oop 540’s, and all kinds of advanced tricks.

Ryan McKeeman was the hands-down winner with a score of 26.6. Mark Abma was second with a 24.3, and Evan Wilcox third with a 22.4.
